As the CEO of SCI, I'm proud that we are growing our business and deepening the impact and breadth of our work.
As we near our third anniversary, I wanted to share insights into SCI's operations and the values that drive us forward.
The leadership team we've built at SCI is vast and diverse, encapsulating the blend of practical experience and visionary thinking that defines why we are genuinely different. Our team has a unique blend of hands-on experience.
This mix is not only a source of pride but also a testament to the collaborative spirit and expertise driving our organisation. These have helped us attract top-tier talent across the industry.
Understated Beginnings to Bold Ambitions
Let's take sustainability or ESG as an example of how we do things. The stakes are high, and the need for innovation is pressing.
Our focus on it isn't just a response to a growing industry trend; it reflects our commitment to contributing positively to the world. Therefore, real-world projects aimed at reducing GHG emissions will define the future of sustainability at SCI. One such opportunity is within rice production (more to come on this soon). It's a prime example of how we want to make tangible, measurable, market-leading impacts that make a difference today, not tomorrow.
Our approach to our work can be summed up by the adage' under-promising and over-delivering, with a relentless focus on the customer.
In basic terms, this means being available at the end of the phone when we need it most. This philosophy has guided us through complex challenges and allowed us to build trust with our customers and within our team.
The SCI Team: Our Greatest Asset
Building a world-class team at SCI is more than filling vacancies or creating new roles. It's about finding people who share our vision for a sustainable future and possess the dynamic blend of skills needed to navigate the complexities of our field.
From auditors to farmers, horticulture experts to data analysts, everyone is encouraged to think creatively, propose innovative solutions, and take full ownership of their projects.
On that note, we're expanding our horticulture team in the coming weeks. We're looking for people passionate about the environment and keen to drive change within the sector. Our approach is hands-on, combining on-the-ground knowledge with strategic thinking to meet the evolving needs of our customers and the planet. If that sounds like you, please get in touch.
Looking Forward with Cautious Optimism
As we enter our fourth year together, our journey towards integrating ESG principles more deeply into all our work and expanding our horticulture capabilities will continue rapidly. Yet, as is typical of the SCI way, we will tread this path with cautious optimism.
I'm keenly aware of the challenges ahead, but I'm also confident in our team's strength and creativity to overcome them.
The future at SCI is bright, not because of lofty promises or grandiose claims, but because of the steady, purpose-driven work we do daily.
My team is at the heart of this work, and their dedication, expertise, and vision truly set them apart.
